Gold Coast Floor Sanding is an owner-operated timber floor sanding, restoration and refinishing business servicing the Gold Coast and surrounding areas.
I'm Chris, the owner and operator, with more than 30 years of hands-on experience in the timber flooring industry. I personally assess, quote and carry out the work rather than handing projects over to rotating crews or subcontractors.
My work ranges from straightforward residential floor refinishing through to damaged-floor repairs, engineered timber, parquetry, custom staining, staircases, heritage flooring and substantial commercial restoration projects.

One of the advantages of dealing with an owner-operated business is continuity from the first conversation through to the completed floor.
I assess the existing timber, prepare the quotation, discuss repairs and finish options and personally carry out and oversee the sanding and refinishing process.
That means the condition of the floor and the expectations discussed before the project aren't lost between a salesperson, project manager and different installation crews.
Timber floors can reveal unexpected issues once the previous coating is removed.
Having the same experienced tradesman involved throughout the job allows those decisions to be made with an understanding of the complete project rather than treating each stage separately.

Timber floor sanding is one of those trades where experience becomes particularly valuable when a floor doesn't behave exactly as expected.
Timber species, age, previous sanding, old coatings, moisture history, repairs, staining and the construction of the flooring can all influence how a floor needs to be approached.
More than 30 years in the industry has involved working with many different flooring conditions — from older solid hardwood and parquetry through to modern engineered timber and specialist coating systems.

OLDER TIMBER FLOORS

ENGINEERED TIMBER

PARQUETRY
Multiple grain directions require a different sanding approach from conventional straight boards. CUSTOM STAINING
Fine preparation becomes particularly important when darker colours and stains are being applied. |
PREPARATION BEFORE THE FINAL COAT
The finished appearance of a timber floor is heavily influenced by the preparation beneath the coating.
My approach is therefore based on progressive sanding, detailed edge work and fine surface preparation rather than simply removing the old coating and applying a new finish.
Professional belt, edge and multi-head sanding equipment is used according to the requirements of the floor, with professional dust extraction helping to control airborne dust throughout the sanding process.
Once the timber has been properly prepared, the coating system can then be selected to suit the timber, required appearance, expected traffic and maintenance requirements.
